5 Questions You Should Ask Your Logistics Company

Finding a logistics company that’s good for you can be a tough decision. Beyond the initial questions of what type of service you want (land, rail, sea, air) there are other determining factors that you may want to take into account.

To find the perfect logistics company for you, consider asking yourself and any prospective companies these questions.

1. What areas do you service and how frequently through the week do you provide these transport services?

It’s important to be assured that a logistics company can deliver directly to you. Some companies work Australia-wide whereas others are more localised. While an Australian-wide company could seem like an ideal option, ask yourself if it is necessary. 

What if you only need to move cargo from within your own state? What if a more local logistics company can cover the same geographic area for a lesser price? A local company will even be more likely to understand the area better.

2. How much do you cost?

Here at Cannon Logistics, we don’t work on a ‘one size fits all’ pricing structure. We determine it to the individual and exactly how much produce/product is being moved from point A to point B. Some companies do work on set prices, however.

Ultimately whichever company you choose, make sure you’ve done enough research to be sure that they’re services will be saving you money in the long run.

3. How do you take care of my goods?

Unfortunately some logistics companies that exist out there don’t show as much concern for the protection of your goods as you would like. So ask how they prepare your goods for transit and how they stack or organise your goods during. 

If they’re not taking acceptable measures to produce the highest likelihood that your goods will arrive in the same condition they were when sent, then they’re best to be avoided. You don’t want to be dealing with unnecessary complaints when you find your goods damaged.

4. What technology do you use?

It’s a simple fact that certain goods require special conditions. Certain foods need to remain under particular temperatures whereas others need to remain above a set temperature. There is plenty of good technology to ensure this happens. Make sure they have it. Also ask how they go about achieving the quickest and safest routes, be it through GPS or other means.

5. How long do deliveries take?

You want your goods to arrive ASAP. There’s no doubt about that. Cannon Logistics provides its services throughout Queensland and Northern NSW, so our deliveries are very efficient. But if you’re having goods delivered from WA and you live in QLD, how long will it take then? What if there’s a different company that can complete the delivery in a quicker time?

Don’t be afraid to get clarity and ask around. That’s what competition is all about. Ultimately, though, make sure that a quick delivery does not come at the expense of your bank account or the quality of your goods.
