5 Scenic Rest Stops this Easter

Cania Gorge
Location: 10.3km South of Cania Dam

About the area: Cania Dam is part of Cania Gorge which is a national park and if you pass by as a leisure traveller, there is much to see and do at the park such as hiking or walking the park trails; camping; and rock climbing. It’s a great spot to spend this Easter break as you can Rest, Relax and Reflect here away from the bustling city.
Townsville
Location: 11km West of Paluma

About the area: For those that enjoy travelling off the beaten track, make your way north along the Bruce Highway from the city proper of Townsville, turn left to Crystal Creek and you’ll find yourself in Paluma. For an extended rest stop, you can enjoy two popular swimming holes and the large picnicking area.
Gold Coast
Location: Coolangatta

About the area: The Gold Coast is known to be a tourist hub, whether you’re a truck driver or a general motorway driver, if you find yourself being able to make a stop at Coolangatta, you’re in for a great treat. Coolangatta is popular for great surfing, the beach and tropical-like days even in Winter.
Terry Smith Lookout
Location: 78km North of Cloncurry

About the area: Popular amongst campers, terry smith lookout makes the perfect rest stop. The mobile reception is great and the area is complete with all your needs for an overnight stay.
Jericho
Location: Town of Jericho

About the area: Jericho is the quintessential outback town – full of historical landmarks and stories, a rest stop here is not only easy on the eye but a fun look at the outback hospitality. You can even catch a movie at their drive-in theatre – which is also known as Australia’s smallest drive-in theatre, holding 36 cars plus walk-ins.
