Broncos Win QLD Derby
The Broncos are two wins from two after winning a gripping QLD Derby 16-12 against the Cowboys on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.
In front of 42,303 people, the Broncos got off the mark with a try to backrower Matt Gillett, who latched onto an inside ball from fullback Ben Barba. Winger Daniel Vidot, who was playing his first game at Suncorp Stadium in Broncos colours, gave the Broncos the lead before halftime by diving onto a Hoffman chip to score.
The game was sealed in the 74th minute when halfback Ben Hunt fed the ball to centre Dale Copley who whisked past Johnathan Thurston and off-loaded the ball to the much improved Andrew McCullough to score under the posts.
The Broncos survived a late Cowboys onslaught, where Thurston nearly stole the game at the death, to record their second win of the season.
A special mention must be given to Sam Thaiday, Andrew McCullough and Corey Parker for stand out performances.
In other news Broncos winger JHARAL Yow Yeh announced his retirement from rugby league. In a statement released yesterday, Yow Yeh confirmed that the ankle he broke and dislocated in one freak accident two years ago had brought about his retirement.
Yow Yeh played State of Origin and Tests for Australia. We here at Cannon Logistics would like to wish JHARAL all the best for the future.
The Broncos play last years Premiers, the Sydney Roosters, in a Round 3 Blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium this Friday night.
Go Broncos!
