Spring produce guide: October 2015
We may only be just over halfway through September, but October is sure to roll around in no time.
As the temperatures continue to rise, more and more tropical fruits are coming into season. In terms of vegetables, there’s a sizeable number that will also be in-season (locally) throughout October – around the same amount number as in-season fruits.
Fruits
Do you love guacamole? Well, the good news is that avocados are more in-season than ever, so you can whip up a delicious bowl (or two or three) of this healthy Mexican treat. If that’s not really your scene, you’ve got plenty of berries to choose from. Then, of course there are citrus or tropical options such as grapefruit, oranges and pineapple.

Vegetables
With October comes more regularly in-season cucumbers. Sure, they may not be everyone’s favourite vegetable, but they’re great with a wide range of meals and snacks; including salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, noodle dishes, soups and, of course, in water and cocktails. Still, if you’re not really partial to cucumber, there’s plenty of other vegetables to choose from during October.
