Transport & Infrastructure Set to Finish in September 2019
According to the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, these are some upcoming projects and developments expected to be completed in September. Fitzroy Boat Ramp Project
What is it? An upgrade to the existing boat ramp in Stanage Bay, Fitzroy and installation of a breakwater and walkway.
What date can we expect completion? Sometime in September 2019.
What does this mean for logistics? Perhaps another transport hub for sea cargo that can be picked up and dropped off at Fitzroy.
Shute Harbour Marina Project
What is it? The proposed development will include:
- 395 marina berths and associated marina facilities
- Resort hotel comprising 109 suites
- Retirement resort comprising 70 plus apartments
- Managed resort comprising 52 lots of varying dwelling types
- Cafe and restaurant
- Retail outlets for visitors, including a supermarket and specialty shops
- Sailing club
- Charter boat base
- Emergency services and sea rescue centre
- Marine education and interpretive centre
- Community cyclone shelter
What date can we expect completion? 4th September 2019.
What does this mean for logistics? This brings back the large Whitsundays market and consequently, their logistics needs for the various resorts and dining options on the islands.
Daydream Island Repair & Refurbishment Project
What is it? An extensive redevelopment of Daydream Island resort which will now offer 277 refurbished modern rooms and suites with the choice of interconnecting rooms for families and special access rooms. There will also be an expansion of their restaurants and events space, along with bringing back the ‘living reef’ concept which uses over 1.5 million litres of water.
What date can we expect completion? 20th September 2019.
What does this mean for logistics? A new destination.
Hayman Island Project
What is it? A year on since Tropical Cyclone Debbie left a trail of destruction through the region, underground feeders will now be replaced by overhead power conductors connecting to the submarine cables.
What date can we expect completion? 20th September 2019.
What does this mean for logistics? Another somewhat ‘new’ destination.
Hummock Hill Island Development
What is it? Residential and tourism development
